BMI Calculator in kg
This BMI calculator in kg uses the metric formula BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². It opens with a metric preset, so you enter kilograms and centimeters and the result appears immediately together with the World Health Organization category, underweight, normal, overweight, or obese, and the healthy weight range for your height. The chart and risk notes update as you change the numbers. BMI is a screening indicator, not a diagnosis: very muscular people can score high, and it does not describe body-fat distribution, so use it alongside other measurements such as waist circumference. Everything is computed in your browser, so your height and weight never leave the device.

What is the BMI formula in kg? +
BMI = weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. For example, 70 kg at 1.75 m gives 70 ÷ 3.06 = 22.9.
What is a healthy BMI range? +
The WHO considers 18.5 to 24.9 normal. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25 to 29.9 is overweight, and 30 or above is obesity.
Is BMI reliable for everyone? +
No. BMI cannot tell muscle from fat and does not show where fat is stored. Athletes, pregnant women, children, and older adults should interpret it with care.
What BMI ranges are considered healthy? +
A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered normal weight. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25-29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese.
Does the tool account for age and gender? +
The standard BMI formula does not factor in age or gender. The tool provides the standard WHO classification and notes its limitations.
What is the difference between metric and imperial BMI? +
The formula is the same. Only the input units differ. Metric uses kg/m², while imperial uses lbs/in² multiplied by 703.
Is BMI accurate for athletes? +
BMI does not distinguish between muscle and fat. Athletes with high muscle mass may have a "overweight" BMI despite being very fit.
