Splitting strategies: ranges, size and bookmarks

Splitting a PDF is easy to describe and full of small decisions in practice. The simplest strategy is one file per page, which suits scanned receipts and forms that must be filed individually. Fixed ranges are better when the document already has natural sections: a range expression such as 1-4,5-9,10-12 produces three files, and a well-designed tool lets you review the boundaries before running.
