What is EXIF data? +
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata written into photos by cameras and phones: camera model, lens, exposure settings, date, software and — if location services were on — GPS coordinates. The EXIF Viewer & Remover - See and Strip Photo Metadata shows all of it and can remove it.
Does removing EXIF reduce image quality? +
No. The removal only strips the metadata segments from the JPEG container; the compressed pixel data is copied unchanged, so there is no recompression and no quality loss.
Why do PNG and WebP show as unsupported? +
The EXIF viewer engine targets the JPEG APP1 segment, where EXIF is standardized. PNG and WebP store metadata differently, so cleaning them is not supported — you can still preview them here.
Is it safe to use on private photos? +
Yes — the photo is processed locally with the File API and never uploaded. The cleaned copy is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device.
